Pretty sure the McKinley with FM is the same as the Jack. I am still on the look out for one!

Pretty much only it has a tone switch rather than a higher and lower band switch, so is only mid hand out of the box.

It is easy to sort by swapping the wires on the switch.

Great radios.

Might look out for one, had a new mckinley back in the 80s, really liked president radios back then. Theres a lot more mods for them now. Or should i just stick to newer stuff and stop looking at old stuff with rose tinted glasses on. Lol

They work better than most of the new radios, and are certainly better built.

A bit basic though.

With help from DR.Mackane I have been battling my radio buying addiction and I seam to have it under control and every time I see a radio I want I play that old classic song from Grange Hill...Just say no. All I have to do now is sell all the gear I bought in the last 12 months

There's a local to me who uses a McKinley over all of his other radios and swears by it.
I must say it sounds great on SSB!

That's why I've been looking out for one, the Jack (or probably both  )

The McKinley's getting old now . Same with the Stalker 9 . I mean I understand the attraction , but I'd rather have the Philippines made JACK any day of the week . Same as the RICHARD Vs 148 GTL-DX Mk2 . I'll keep my eye out for one for you Drew in Spain . If I find one then I can bring it back over on one of my trips .

Think the jack with channel mods, 10kc and unlocked clarifier would be great mobile radio.

That's great Sammy, thanks.
I have a black Richard here that while working well, was used as a football while in transit and has some dents. It's very well made though.
