Magnum S9

Anyone using one and what do you think ? Like the big signal meter but being made in China put's me off them.Was looking at some review's of the radio,but seemed mostly american's who rate them 5 out of 5,and plenty say they have poor trannies 1969's.

I think there a bit of a Marmite radio some like them some hate them and some call them a 3900 with a party dress on LOL, I myself like the look of them but I have never owed one TBH never been able to afford one or never had the money at the right time also that is another thing that puts me off sometimes the prices some want for them , a mate of mine has one and he says its one of the best radios he has ever had and he does have a few LOL, I know there is different versions of the S9 style of radio ie: a high power version , any how I did find this a review of them if you want to have a read unless you have seen it already

Thank's for the link Martin I had watched the vid online (YT) but not read this actual review,same lay out as the Stryker radio's but they have a lcd display and prefer a needle on my meter,only reason I don't like my 480,it has no needle

Have had a few radio's the last few year made in China and got shot of them as they were pant's,I use a radio made in Japan now.

Lots of people moan about Chinese stuff but nearly everything is made there now so it's difficult to avoid it.

S9's is just a big boys toy. It's all looks and little substance. Yes they may have a bit of a TX audio punch to it, but the internal build is crap, they drift like fuk, and completely over priced. Buy a decent radio like a Ranger.

Chrome plating, blue LEDs, large s-meter and echo doesn't impress me

I've owned one, did the business, didn't let me down, looked good (to me), sounded good (others told me) and only sold it to fund another radio.......but there are many other great radios some of which are better

Had mine a few months now and still lovin it , Mine is the 3o w version . Awsome Turbo echo , Fab Meter ,I love its black and chrome looks . Good audio on all modes , Yes it dose drift a little during warm up but not enough to be a problem . Best of all Its old school controls made it feel like an old pair of slippers .

What kind of Ranger Dave ?,as I prefer a needle on my signal meter and not a crappy lcd display like the 2970 (150W) my mate has.

Might end up with one of these S9 radios soon,just to see what its like.........hope its a keeper.They are overpriced and a wee bit more cash could get a nice second-hand hf set,but been there and just like CB's.

There are 2 S9's local,the one with the astatic teardrop is mega LOUD (have one here and a NM532) I just prefer an analogue needle on the meter of the radio being used and lcd is worse for static imo.
