I'll "ditto" that buddy.
Just bought one of these and I've noticed that your having problems programming it with Windows 10.
Well my new laptop has Windows 10 on it too...so anyone know how to rectify the com port issue ?
By the way ...I'm not that impressed at all by the radio.
Yes they're nice to look at but the receive on my 30 year old plus uniden boarded radios would blow this outta the water.
It sounds like the agc overload that you get on a Jacko but 10 times worst...backing off the the rf gain works a little .
Don't know if the s-meter is calibrated or just an indication but it doesn't marry up with the s-meter readings on my uniden boarded radios.
I'm gunna hook it upto my Marconi 2955a test set ..feed a 100uv signal into it and see if the s-meter reads a signal 9.
Best regards Coppernob Roger.
Oh and I bought mine direct from Nevada with the programming lead and software and I got the dr135 uk version with the manual in English !

I wasn't impressed by mine either Roger, for exactly the same reasons, I found the SSB awful in comparison to an old school set. Luckily it went wrong and I was able to send it back. When the £99 offer came up I decided not to get another.

Still better than the Grant 2 though.

Re the com port issue i have no idea. Mine just worked. Have a look in your device manager and see if the lead is visible there or you may have a yellow triangle indicating a driver issue.

I find my works really well in the car and the s meters fine. I think they are just a bit lively when used as a base radio.

Well I programmed mine with no issues.
I used my laptop with Windows 10 installed.
This worked for me .
Install software..for some reasons Nevada sent me two different versions of the software 1.08 and 3.
I used the latest version..
Plug in the programming lead into the laptop but not the radio ..run the software .
Hover your mouse over the icon what says communication port..click and another page comes up with a comm port highlighted .accept and close.
MAKE SURE THE RADIO IS NOT POWERED UP AND PLUG THE PROGRAMMING LEAD IN !
I got a beep on my laptop which told me something had been plugged in.
Wait a few seconds and turn the radio on..please note you do not need the microphone plugged in to program the radio..make sure the software is running and the page is open when you do this.
Goto the software and click on "read data from radio"
After you've done this you can then edit bands A thru to F and alter the options for echo ,anl etc..one thing do not put a tick in the busy box as this will inhibit your tx because it thinks the channel is busy and you have to turn the squelch up full to tx.
All in all ...I had no problems at all.
In fact suffice to say it was a piece of p!ss.
Hope this helps ..Coppernob Roger.
Ps I was using the correct programming lead and software which was supplied by Nevada at the same time as I purchased the radio.

Yes mate after you've got the software running and checked the comm port power up the radio .
Read the data from the radio first and then alter it to your specifications .
Write to radio..you get a progress bar on the software..wait till its done .click finish and the radio will display "end"
Turn the radio off..and then turn back on and your settings should have been saved and the radio programmed.
Hope this helps mate.
Regards Coppernob Roger.

Agreed - anyone had a go at improving the backlight illumination?

This radio has got to be the worst radio on the market and it carries the Alinco badge.
That could only be very bad news for Alinco.

They do work ok apart from the backlight though. Certainly better than a couple of other more expensive radios I could mention.
