Membership Requests 2007

Post by Transmission1 »

If you would like to join the Tango Mike DX group then please post in this thread or PM me with your choice of callsign. Basically you can have any number between 001-999 providing it's not already been allocated in your country.

For detailed division numbers or if you are not sure what division you need to request please refer to this excellent website: http://www.prefix-maps.de/
Division numbers are issued to the "Gruppo Radio Italia Alfa Tango" standard.

QSL Card Designs will follow in the next few weeks along with a set of membership rules that we expect the group to follow (don't worry, we're not going to ask you to do anything funny to join such as standing on one leg whilst whistling the Eastenders theme tune!). :D

Membership is entirely free of charge to any registered user of Transmission1 although you will be responsible for printing your own QSL cards from the site and that's about all! Have fun with your callsign on 11 metres and respect other DX groups out there since we are all in this for the same reasons!

Hi Xindi

It's yours ... 26-T1-003. Just need your personal name and your location so we can add you to the list like the others above.

Also.. welcome to the forums.. good DX!

Cheers

It's been suggested that the: TWENTY - SIX - TANGO - ONE - ZERO - ZERO - ONE (26 T1 001) format doesn't exactly trip gently from the tongue and might confuse people who are expecting: NUMBER - NUMBER - LETTER - LETTER - NUMBER - NUMBER - NUMBER and this is even worse for 163 T1 001 (even more numbers!).

Perhaps we should revert to the original idea but start at 001 (26 TM 001) which is what people expect to hear?

TWENTY - SIX - TANGO - MIKE - ZERO - ZERO - ONE

TWENTY - SIX - TANGO - MIKE - ZERO - ZERO - TWO

TWENTY - SIX - TANGO - MIKE - ZERO - ZERO - THREE

TWENTY - SIX - TANGO - MIKE - SIX - SIX - SIX

ONE - SIX - THREE - TANGO - MIKE - ZERO - ZERO - ONE

What do you all think?

I prefer the two alpha character format as used traditionally in most other DX clubs. Starting at 001 doesn't actually limit the number of members. Indeed I used to be 26 DT 1311 in the days of the delta tango group.

If you want to change then be quick before things get going... who is in favour of this proposal? ( 26-TM-XXX )

Yup, i think i prefer 163-TM-001, to 163-T1-001. Also i think 001 is the simplest method. That's what i think anyway, i'll go with whatever you fellas' decide anyway. :)

I think whatever we decide this time is what we should stick with though. :)

Hey now we've got our own DX club i bet i know what'll happen to the home page at the top just below the T1 logo. It'll say "Home of the Tango Mike DX club", not forgetting it could say "Home of the Tango One DX club". Or if you didn't use the phoenetics it could say.......................................................... Oh, I'm getting on my own nerves now

I agree. I'm going to make an executive decision and go along with the format:

26-TM-XXX

So all callsigns will announced on air in the format Jon suggested in his example:

TWENTY - SIX - TANGO - MIKE - ZERO - ZERO - ONE

Right ok.. now that's sorted I'm going to update the callsign list. Please can all members make sure they update their signature files with the correct call and I can get on with designing some QSL cards.

Also if anyone else would like to have a go at designing a QSL then please go ahead and give it a shot. I use Photoshop quite a bit but even microsoft publisher is suitable for this purpose as I can convert the end product to PDF so you do not need any special applications on your computer to view them and print out.

Cheers

Ok, I'll dig out some of my old QSL cards, scan a few and post them on the site here for you all to have a look at. I'm sure we can come up with some original ideas as some of my cards date back to 1991 - 1993 and the technology used to produce the cards has moved on.
