Essex Skills Night Monday March 19

Skills Night takes place at 7pm on Monday, March 19 in Danbury Village Hall, Essex. This free event is open to everyone with an interest in any aspect of radio.

Hosted by the Chelmsford Amateur Radio Society Training Team, Skills Nights are Inter-Club events attended by amateurs and SWL's from across Essex and beyond. They provide an opportunity to try something new, share ideas, get help and advice, and socialise with others interested in the hobby.

The provisional agenda this month includes:

• Digital Radio: Chris Boon 2E0CUU with Laptop and a DV4mini access point will cover Digital Voice and programming handhelds
• EchoLink: Jim Salmon 2E0RMI will be there to help you use EchoLink and Web SDR reception/decoding
• Metering: Peter M0PSD will be in the Hawkins room to show the use of test meters, ( part of the training course) but all are welcome who wish to discover how to use them.
• Fusion: Keith Law G3WGE will have demos of Yaesu System Fusion (YSF) and the Wires-X network
• Station Build: Perry Douglas M6XPD will have a training practical demo for Station Build with an antenna analyser
• CARS: Pauline M6XPK will have the club table covering Membership, Merchandise and Course Enquiries
• Badges: Jim 2E0JTW and Glynis 2E0CUQ will have their engraver for custom callsign badges. Perfect for your new M6 callsign...
• Essex CW: Dean G4WQI will be available to assist Morse enthusiasts and have advice for new starters as well.
• ThamesARG: Mark Sanderson M0IEO will be showing a Tuning exercise with a VFO, as per the Intermediate Course Practical. If you are about to start your Intermediate training or you just want to brush up on your calibrating skills, them come along to see Mark and give it a go.
• The Quiz: A Fun Quiz with Murray G6JYB and any technical advice or questions
