Amateur radio repeaters?

Post by StormShadow »

Hi. When I drive through London I get this repeater on 144.965 MHz What is this repeater? Its not listed on the UK repeater site.

There is another repeater that I'm unsure of. The output frequency is 145.775 & the input is 145.175. I can access this repeater using the tone burst on my radio. I thought this was GB3NL but it appears not as GB3NL has a 82.5Hz tone. The repeater that I'm accessing is not GB3NL unless the details for GB3NL on the UK repeater are wrong? I programmed a different radio for GB3NL and it is not the same repeater but both use the same frequency combinations so I have no idea what I'm accessing :?

My last question. Whats happening with GB3AL? according to the UK repeater site, it clearly states that GB3AL is not operational witch is incorrect information as I have been using GB3AL a lot when I'm in London. I hope GB3AL isn't going off air.

Hi, 144.965 isn't on the UK bandplan. It could be break though from another frequency. Does it sound like an amateur repeater or commerical??

The list of simplex gateways on the uk repeater site (click here) has an entry for MB7IBR about ten miles south of central London on 144.9625MHz.

You will still hear 144.9625 if you are tuned 2.5Khz off on 144.965

If it's not GB3NL, the most likely candidate looks like GB3TE

Try listening out for the ident (you may have to turn off CTCSS on receive), if you don't know morse just remember what the last two characters sound like and look them up.

Same as above,but listen to the morse of the repeater ident.The first 3 characters should be G B 3 --. -... ...-- The last 2 give you the station.There is a final character and this will be A.B.C.D.E.F.G.H.or J. This gives out the CTCSS code for the repeater.
A= 67 .-
B= 71.9 -...
C= 77 -.-.
D= 82.5 -..
E= 88.5 .
F= 94.8 ..-.
G= 103.5 --.
H= 110.9 ....
J= 118.8 .---

Hope you manage to find it.Cheers M6ZEF

Thanks everybody for your help. Its all solved apart from GB3NL witch appears to be non operational either that or its not based in London or has a weak output. GB3TE is the one I'm accessing. Their is also the Essex net on 144.725 witch is interesting.

Nothing like reviving an old thread,gb3nl is in london and is operational.No ctcss,it is accessed with a 1750 tone burst,or a whistel.It based in enfield on top of the civic centre along with gb3lv 70cms and echolink ...................

And 145.725 is gb3da in Danbury. ....................
