does York use encryption key?
and there is a specxialist cryptography site that says about decoding encryption keys with specialist computer hard or software but I've forgot what the website is called
would anyone know the name of it?

Re: Shopwatch
As far as I know, York shopwatch is not encrypted. However I don't know the frequency as It's been a while since I have dabbled with RTL-SDR. For some reason with my antenna setup I can't pick up many DMR signals they appear very weak on the waterfall display but compared to some analogue signals they are much stronger than the digital. I think lots of the digital repeaters are at a different site to the analogue ones and I can't receive that site very well.Radioshane wrote:does York use encryption key?

Re: Shopwatch
sorry you can't pick them up it must be very gutting
have you asked anyone for advice ?
maybe the different repeaters are on different frequencies I didn't know digital used repeaters!#
also who are all the analoge people on about 440mhz are they contractors?
Also do you know how much the new aor DV1 will be I bet it won't be cheap over a grand?

I think its just my antenna set up and i'm going to get a new antenna soon. And yes digital do use repeaters I think because DMR simplex (point to point) sounds very different from DMR through a repeater (DMR simplex sounds more like a helicopter).
440 MHz? What are the exact frequencies as I will program them to my scanner to see if I can pick them up. (I live in the York area)
Also I dont know about the AOR DV1 but I did hear it will be expensive, but will be good if you can pick up DMR with it.
I wonder if its possible to get a MOTROBO radio and program in the digital channels just to listen not transmit, has anyone tried this?

Re: Shopwatch
not being funny but with a laptop donlgle combination it's a hell of a lot cheaper and will propbably do the same job the radios that the ambulance service first responders use are about five or 600 nicker brand new and acording to other forums you've got to be extremely very very careful to keep your fingers away from the transmit button as I should think they start getting interference they'll totally encrypt cos I remember the effable heaven o9n earth fire brigade radio people used to do it well if digital signals just drop I don't know how you'll receive it!

Re: Shopwatch
excaliber why can't the AOR AR DV1 decode gsm?
according to the former editor of the radio user there was a man who made a gsm transmitter and it fooled the base station
and there was a professor knohl who broke the a5 encryption code and each cell site doesn't change it's code like tetra!
It's a shame there isn't as much chatting about gsm on here!

Re: Shopwatch
Fair enough but surely there should be a way to disable transmit functions from the software of the motrobo radio I assume. I do the same on my Baofeng radios on a licensed channel you can just leave the transmit blank or at low power on channel 1 (walkie talkie band 446) so if you do accidental transmit you wont interfere with them.Radioshane wrote:not being funny but with a laptop donlgle combination it's a hell of a lot cheaper and will propbably do the same job the radios that the ambulance service first responders use are about five or 600 nicker brand new and acording to other forums you've got to be extremely very very careful to keep your fingers away from the transmit button as I should think they start getting interference they'll totally encrypt cos I remember the effable heaven o9n earth fire brigade radio people used to do it well if digital signals just drop I don't know how you'll receive it!
