I don't have the radio or the software either.
I am quite new to this scanning myself and can't really find any info online that would help.
It is a case of using the exact inversion point to decode the audio. Some scanner/radios allow you to select the inversion point others don't i am not sure if your radio can do this. If it can't then you will not descramble the audio. However you can do it with software on pc via the linein on your sound card.

i really need to get Gainsborough shopwatch to work on my radio. those frequencies for Gainsborough aren't correct i guess or i don't know the ctcss code for them.

I think the list isn't accurate, as long as your CTCSS/DCS isn't set to anything then you should still pick them up.

Are you sure it is encrypted and not a case they have moved over to digital? If it is digital it will sound like a car engine.
