Midland Portapak telescopic aerial length required please?

Post by The Collector »

This should hopefully be a one answer jobbie.

I can't find my Portapak box with the aerial and other bits inside and I've been asked by someone I know who's got one, what the length of the aerial is that comes with it? The tip's missing but he reckons there's possibly a whole section missing too.

Could someone please measure their 27/81 aerial, fully extended from the tip to the bottom of threaded joint please and let me know? I'll pass on the info then.

I've tried Google and downloaded the manual but there's no mention of the length.

Cheers all and TM1.

It does look very similar, thanks Claude.

Dave, if you could please, just in case there's any difference at all. I've got about 70 radio boxes in the loft and I just can't find the Portapak one. Typical.

Sorry for the late reply.....
The telescopic antenna is 150cm long plus the knuckle joint adds up with a length of 155cm.

Hope this helps.
Ps I have a spare knuckle if needed

Cool, cheers for that Dave. It also shows it's pretty much identical to the one Claude mentioned above then too.

I'll pass the information on when I see him next thanks. He can then work out if just the tip is missing, or the top section too ;)

I think the very last section is a solid rod with a weighted tip which is also a solid piece of metal.

No problems glad I was able to help
