Got my himalaya put up this morning and it is an easy install. Highest swr in ssl was 1.3, the rest of the bands even up into 28mhz are 1.2. Did anyone notice reading lower output power than previous antenna. All my radios are reading a couple of watts lower when plugged into the himalaya than the a99. Anybody else seen this. Wouldnt normally have noticed but my old radios are all 4/5 watts on am/fm and 10/12 ssb, and have dropped sub 4 on the meter. Thanks

Radio output is the same like before. Meter is fooling you.

As the weather was curtailing me going anywhere yesterday. I decided to move the antenna positions in the garden to see if the himalaya would benefit from extra height and further away from house. Swpped a99 and himalaya positions, new coax and plugs on both. Same weird power reading from himalays on a new meter. Also same poor results. Stations a99 is picking up s5 and below, the himalaya does not pick up. Thought might be coax issue so used a99 old coax n plugs, just the same. Perfect swr accross the bands, on 7 different radios, all deaf as a post below s5 a99 in its new lower position and closer to house is wiping the floor with it in every way except swr is a little higher. Any hints would would help guys. Have not had an antenna up and down so much since silver rods in early 80s trying to swr the sods. Thanks

Results are as should be. That antenna is deaf like it's predecessor.

I wouldn't do it. Any aluminium, narrow tuning antenna will outperform fibreglass hands down.
I suggest to look at Sirio New Tornado or Sirio 827.
But it is your money.

So I think it is better stick to your A99 since there is no room for improvement.

Yep would have been cheaper to put up another a99 and a fireup kit. Still need to find out why its so bad when so many said they were great.

As I have the GM HW up at the moment, I'll be interested to see how mine compared once I get round to putting it up.
Not the results you were expecting and I'm now wondering what mine will be like although as already said, I'm replacing a HW with another HW (electrically speaking)

Might just be a bad antenna drew, but not what i was expecting from others results.i had thought it was because it was closer to house and couple of feet lower than the a99. But changed them round, now its higher and further away and still getting walked all over by a99. Might just be a bad antenna, i have tried new coax and plugs, new meter, still same swr wise but the low ouptut thing is strange too. Have never seen that before. Test with 7 radios yesterday says something is not right. All far out, low signals are gone on himalaya, plug in a99 too same radio they jump straight in with a low signal and readable audio.

A few of my customers had that antenna (WB). They had same poor results.
I bet, that 4$ vertical wire dipole will outperform WB at any location:)
