They don't work well on non original mics, as they have a habit of changing channel when you transmit.

And trying to find a good secondhand top cover would be like trying to find a retired Kamikaze pilot.

Points taken, but, in my opinion, the only people likely to wish to own this pile of old junk would be collectors, so the little points matter, and discrepancies add up.

But if you were a collector wouldn't you want a better one?

I would like one, jsut because they're an oddball. I'm not even bothered about the condition too much as long as it's complete.

I owned one from new many moons ago, Lovely radio, nice to use, but remember it to be very average...

I recall it could hear the grass grow on RX when quiet but when busy didn't like the strong stations a few up lol.

Sorry to see the state of the ones posted on ebay.

Did I see one a while ago on ebay with the mid installed?

Great radio. I twice owned one, the last one I sold about three years ago. From new you could purchase them as standard or with upgrades made at the factory. You could have set to start up on either 14 or 19 on switch on was one, and the other was a crystal filter installation which provided better adjacent channel rejection. Both radios I had had the crystal filters fitted and they performed superb.

Would I buy another one? Nope, I'm not a collector, and UKFM doesn't deserve to have such good radios used on it these days.

Ah, missing a zero. Thank you.

Want one even more now I've seen that, no wonder they're a good receiver and the PLL is *way* too useful for 27/81.

May have to have a punt on eBay at some point.

I remember reading about them in CB radio magazine when they first came out . Got a really good review , but they were really expensive . Can't remember the original retail price . Was it around 200 quid ?

Old thread resurrection :D

I just got hold of one of these with the original mic and in excellent condition. Lovely receive on it and feels really well made. It's a keeper
