European Citizens' Band Federation Congress 2014 Brussels

Postby Oggy » 18 Jul 2014, 23:13

ECBF Congress 2014 (Selfie).jpg
I've not being active for a few days, well here's the reason.

I was invited to the 14th European Citizens' Band Federation congress in Brussels in Belgium.
It was very interesting with specialist Translators on hand and I certainly met some very interesting people involved with our hobby from throughout the EU.
Many points were discussed and I made a strong case for the United Kingdom users and my main issue was about the dreaded PLT devices.
I have filmed a video and will be uploaded to Youtube over the weekend.

In this picture that Vincente one of the Delgates from Catalonia posted on our ECBF website you can see Delegates from Catalonia, Spain, Belguim,Croatia,France,Portugal and the geezer in the black shirt is the bloke from the United Kingdom.
That was the night before, we were suited and Booted the following day for the main meeting.
The last time the United Kingdom had a presence was back in 1992 :o
I gave you my word I would get involved and try and get our point over.....more to follow

What's the point?

27MHz is shoite ... that's why they gave it to us, because it's a useless band and nobody else wants it.

It's VHF for extended local, and 6MHz Echo-Charlie for inter-G and Europe.

If you can't give us that, then stay home.

Your a pleasant chap , for a start VHF CB Radio was discussed and as for 6.6 MHZ you have no hope.
At least I do something other that sitting on here and winging about things.
One of the Delegates drove 1200KM to attend so like myself he must of thought it worthwhile. :o

Well I for one would personally like to thank Dave for all his efforts in bringing a UK voice to the table. A voice which hasn't been heard for over 20 years!!!

And can I suggest that if people don't have anything helpful or constructive to say that they refrain from posting on the forum - The amount of negativity coming from certain quarters is quite frankly unbelievable and you should be ashamed of yourselves!

Nice one and well done.

VHF "CB" radio is already available in the guise as 2m Freenet (at least here with a fair few restrictions)

But the point of the post is when, or will there be minutes of the meeting published so Joe Public can get a look see as to what was discussed. Being a nosy so and so I would like to see what other countries are up against.

I don't know your exact location, be it back in UK or still in Brussels but will leave this here in the hope that you see this.

Cheers Dave.

Firsty thanks for your support Delboy, it is becoming "The Norm" on Forums these days those who are trying to help the hobby get the flack.
But it's my choice and I will carry on regardless to fight for what I believe in.

To answer Tim's questions I'm sure the minutes will become available when possible.
Just remember maybe 60% of discussed is internal matters of the running of the Federation and has no real interest to those not involved TBH.
But everything people in the United Kingdom mentioned (and Ex Pats too) I brought to the table as promised :D

Thanks Dave for representing us, and try not to take the negativity of some people to heart.
Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.

So you asked for data mode on 11m, 100w400w PEP, repeaters, split frequencies, make any old tat made in the past 40 years to be type approved, echolink nodes, band-grab a bit of 2m?

Anything else?

Cheers Warden, I'm just glad I went from East Midlands direct and not from Humberside Airport to Schiphol due to the current Air crash.
I would of landed there when the news would of reached them.

Its good to see a strong support for the hobby and people going out of there way to represent a cause what many people care about, since returning to this forum in recent weeks I have noticed a great deal of negativity, more so if you don't share the same opinion your are shot down in flames by a certain 'clique' of regulars, almost reminds me why I kicked the hobby in to touch in the first place.
