Still a few about I sold two good ones not so long ago they seem to be popular with some people but i personally dont rate them at all I find them very poor quality, When they do appear on Ebay some go for silly amounts, The two i had with original mics i sold i think was about £15 each.

If they were in very good condition and working I would have had one of them as I only want one for nostalgia reasons as I had one when they came out.

I have had one as well.
Not impressed either, I would rather have a Uniden or one of the big Cybernets.

There is no such thing as a Fidelity 1000 which is too good to scrap.

Thank you for your replies
I have only been thinking of getting one for nostalgia reasons to add to my small collection of an Amstrad 901(not my original one) which i had when they first came on sale and i also had a new Rotel 240 after the Amstrad 901 plus i still have an AM General Electric with the LED's and i guess there is no value in these radios i have but to me they are part of my past.

As mentioned above, you see them quite regularly on eBay - usually going for about £20-£25. I've got one in my collection, and I did use one in my car in the mid 80's although it developed a fault where the receive would fade to nothing after about half an hour of use.. so I went back to my trusty Amstrad

The biggest problem with them i have encountered is they have tracks on both sides of the board and the solder that goes through the hole in the board connecting to the track on the opposite side goes dry jointed, So you have to go over each one with fresh solder.

Re: Shogun 40 channel cb radio
I've always liked the look of these radios but worryingly the only one I've seen in the flesh was broken...

Re: Shogun 40 channel cb radio
The Shogun was a nice looking rig, but the performance wasn't that hot. As Nick says that double-sided PCB and poor soldering didn't help.
Another design fault was it stick power on one of the mic socket pins without any current limiting. Wire the mic up wrong and you damaged the rig. Simple solution was to cut the wire to that pin.

Last one I had was about three years ago. If I recall it turned up at a Car Boot that "Cubby" went to. I bought it off him.
Nice radios, but a little charisma-free. I sold it a year later on Flea-bay.

Always had a soft spot for these. The non-plated-thru PCB holes were a pain, but the receiver was quite special.

I had one for a while, and wasn't taken by it.

Re: Shogun 40 channel cb radio
Just been wiring my Shogun up today amongst others. Still loving the design after all these years and it's possibly the slimmest UK-only radio ever made height-wise.
