Re: """Silent Keys and Friends Remembered from the CB radio"
Horace "Sleeper" - From Lewes - Sussex. Died last year I think
Lived at the end of my street and helped me out when I came on air at 14! Still got the power supply he gave me (I think he was fed up with my HUM). Top guy with a good sense of humor. Not spoken to him since I moved away over 10 years ago.
10-10 good buddy,
73s old fella

Re: """Silent Keys and Friends Remembered from the CB radio"
I found out a few weeks ago that an old radio friend of mine Stuart Hamilton died a few years ago
He was a very keen 11m and Ham radio operator and did his RAE the same time as me. His callsign was G1LEG and he was based in Hull in the 1980s.
A truly great bloke and everyone in E Yorks must have known him on the CB and on 2metres especially on SSB.
He moved to the USA and his callsign changed from G1LEG to W1LEG.

Re: """Silent Keys and Friends Remembered from the CB radio"
Just spotted this thread and had to mention my old friend...
Bob "Lanky" McKay. The Lancaster Bomber from Lockerbie.
His was the first CB I ever transmitted on. A midland 100M, in early 1981. He was on CB every day up until he signed off 4 years ago due to a heart attack at the age of 50.

Re: """Silent Keys and Friends Remembered from the CB radio"
Can you guys PM with me the TM1 user name of anyone you know to have sadly passed? We're in the process of defining a new member class so that people will know posts were made by a Silent Key, so that members will not pursue contacting the SK or their familiy to have any questions answered etc. Thus avoiding any untoward stress or upset to those whom the SKs have left behind
I thought this would be the best way to retain their contributions, while honoring their memories.
If you could include these details
TM1 user name
Personal Name
Rough QTH
Rough time of death
The latter point enabling us to time-stamp their signatures so people know how long ago it was since they passed.
Best 73 all, stay safe and may you all enjoy many, many more years on this planet with those whom you love and care for.
