Thanks for sharing, I take it the only benefit off a ctcss tone for a scanner user is if two different users were using the same freq and setting this tone would allow the scanner to just receive the one wanted transmission ?

Hi John, I had unwittingly set up the scanner on the ctcss search under the main frequency and didn't turn the ctcss search off! It's the first time I've heard a hit on that frequency. You are correct in what you say about the ctcss tone.

Noticed a lot of them have moved channel. Is there other frequencies for that channel that anyone knows?

I'm up in Glenrothes just now and am nowhere near a scanner. When I return I'll set up a search for other frequencies in the 400-500 range and if I find anything of note, I'll be sure to post up my findings! But I can confirm that the range of the broadcasts were from Holyrood park all the way up the Royal mile, so power output and range from the radios the stewards were using wasn't a problem.

They are still on 456.4500 @ 18:25pm. There was no activity on this freq at 16:30pm but i heard engineers doing radio tests on this freq then heard control say all user were moving from digital channel to analogue. So there must have been some sort of problem with their digital channel.
