UBC 120 XLT Discriminator Tap

i am planing on fitting a Discriminator Tap to my old UBC120 XLT
just wondering what 3.5mm sockets are being used? i have been looking at something like this

also will it matter what size wire i used from the resistor to the socket?

or do i not bother with the socket and wire it to the jack plug on the scanner?

I imagine you need a mono 3.5mm jack socket
such as
